I have been to London over a handful of times and I’m by NO means an expert but I’ve def learned a few things along the way to make things easier or more helpful.
Get an underground pass. It’s cheap AF, it’s SO easy, it’s clean. BUT, it is in fact NOT air conditioned during the summer so beware. It’s the quickest way to get around London for sure.
Walk everywhere.I mean, yeah sounds easy enough, no? I think I walk on average 10 miles a day when in London! It’s amazing. It’s SUCH a walkable city. Of course, when its super rainy, take the tube but walking is top on the list!
Always choose GBP when using a card and they ask if you want it converted. So, I made this mistake the first few times I went here thinking they were being super accommodating. Turns out the conversion rate is SH*T when you do this- I had no clue bc I’m not a numbers person. Learned from a British friend and an American friend so yeah, get an international no fee card and get charged in GBP, will cost you less in the end.
The food situation. I break out the London food situation in a few posts but, I just want to say that London gets a really bad rap for food. I think people just get overwhelmed because like NYC, it’s pretty big. Just do some research and you will find AMAZING places. I’ve had some really great meals in London and never dread going bc of it. There’s actually a lot of healthy food here, you just need to know here to go. That’s where I (hope) come in handy!
Check out my posts on where to stay, where to eat, Where to have a drink, what to do, and most importantly – where to get coffee in London.
Sealed with a Spritz
